Senior Care
At Moon Valley Veterinary Hospital, we hope that all pets age to full maturity. We enjoy caring for your pet from young to ripe. Senior pets have specific needs that are different than those of younger pets. After a dog reaches 7 years old, it is considered a senior.
Senior pets should be fed diets for senior animals. Senior diets tend to be lower in calories, as our pets are not as active.
We recommend that your senior pet have an exam every 6 months. This allows us to maintain their health with exams for arthritis, cataracts, and other age-related conditions. It is also recommended to have routine laboratory work to monitor for new conditions such as kidney or liver disease.
